Woman killed in Clarksburg fire

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A woman was killed in a structure fire in the East View area of Clarksburg Sunday night.

The blaze was reported in two structures located at 1311 Philippi Pike around 9:18 p.m. Multiple fire departments responded.

Clarksburg Police Chief Robbie Hilliard said multiple occupants were inside of the home when the fire started. The victim was in her 40s. Her name has not been released.

After initial investigation by the Clarksburg Police Department, Hilliard said his officers did not see any cause to believe the fire was suspicious in nature.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating.

Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Anmoore, Nutter Fort, Stonewood, Lost Creek and West Milford fire departments also responded to the scene, as well as Anmoore EMS and West Virginia State Police.

No other information is being released at this time, as the woman’s family is being notified.
