Person injured at McDowell County mining site

KIMBALL, W.Va. — A person was injured in what was reported as an accident at a coal mining site in McDowell County.

According to McDowell County 911, it was reported around 2:10 p.m. Monday afternoon. The person was taken by helicopter ambulance to an undisclosed hospital.

The mine is at the end of Carswell Hollow Road near Kimball.

Representatives of the West Virginia Office of Mine Health Safety and Training were at the site Monday afternoon.
