WVU’s FallFest marks end of summer

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Welcome Week officially concludes with FallFest, featuring 21 Savage, RL Grimes, and headliner Cage the Elephant.

“I like it better than last year in the sense that there’s more seating,” Sophomore Maggie Baumgartner said. “I really wish there was more tent space.”

Welcome Week included a number of activities, including academic sessions for Freshmen.

“It’s been pretty fine — pretty chill,” Erica Kushner said. “There’s less things for sophomores to do.”

“In terms of just move-in week in general, it’s a lot more chill your second time around because you don’t have to do academic sessions or like adventure trips or anything,” Baumgartner said.

In response to the more independent-themed bands, Kushner said she was surprised.

“I like Cage the Elephant a lot, but I still don’t really know anyone,” she said. “Which is disappointing I guess, but I know they can’t really bring in big name artists.”

WVU’s Fall semester begins Wednesday.
