Randolph County teacher faces felony charges

ELKINS, W.Va. — A Randolph County teacher is facing felony charges, following accusations of soliciting a minor.

Albert Chewning is in jail on $100,000 bail.

Albert Chewning, 37, is a shop teacher at Randolph Technical Center who allegedly contacted several students through Snapchat.

According to the criminal complaint, a juvenile female told Patrolman A.M. Wyshyvanuk of Elkins Police Department that Chewning had attempted to initiate a relationship using Snapchat.

The complaint also says that Chewning asked the juvenile female to help put away tools in the closet, and after the door shut, he tried to pull her close to kiss her.

Chewning is behind bars with bond set at $100,000.
