Dead cats discovered in containers near Hedgesville

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Berkeley County Animal Control officers are investigating multiple cats found dead inside plastic containers in Hedgesville last weekend.

Berkeley County Sheriff Curtis Keller confirmed the news Tuesday that the cats were found Saturday.

InvestigatorsĀ reported scratches indicated the cats had apparently been placed inside the containers while they were alive.

Investigators said between 10 and 14 plastic containers were discovered.

It was unclear how many cats were in each one.
