WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio — A Monroe County husband and wife were killed in a weekend motorcycle accident in Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened Saturday on Interstate 77 southbound in Washington County.  The county borders Wood County, West Virginia along the Ohio River.

John Long, 67, of Union, was driving the motorcycle when it “made contact with a pickup and trailer”.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  His wife and passenger, Kristi Long, 62, was transported to Marietta Medical Center in Marietta, Ohio.  She later died from her injuries at the hospital.

A 62-year-old from Senecaville, Ohio was driving the pickup truck involved in the crash.  The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  No further details are available.  Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
