LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. — More of six miles of West Virginia Route 10 opened Wednesday, completing work on the 12.7 miles of highway that connect Logan and Man.
West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, state Secretary of Transportation Tom Smith and several local, state and federal officials were on site to open the final 6.7 miles of the four-lane portion of the highway.
“Today’s ribbon-cutting represents a pure team effort from federal, state and local partners. I am grateful for everyone’s continued support and patience on the completion of this milestone project,” Justice said in a statement.
According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, construction on upgrading the 12.7 miles of road to a four-lane partial access highway cost approximately $355 million.
The final portion of the project cost $197.2 million dollars and included seven contracts to:
— Triton Construction Inc., of Nitro;
— Vecellio & Grogan Inc., of Beckley;
— Bizzack Construction, of Lexington, Kentucky;
— Kanawha Stone Company, of Poca; and
— West Virginia Paving Inc., of Dunbar.
