Second person accuses Fayette County educator of sexual abuse

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Fayette County educator was arrested for a second time in less than a week Wednesday on sexual abuse-related charges after an alleged second victim came forward.

Victor Glen Whitt, 57, of Hico

Victor Glen Whitt, 57, of Hico, was first charged last Friday with numerous sexual offenses after police investigated nearly 20-year-old complaints at the now-closed Nuttall Middle School building. He is charged with seven felony counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian, or person in a position of trust. He also faces six felony counts of second degree sexual assault.

Whitt, who was at one time a teacher and later assistant principal at Nuttall, was arrested against Wednesday after a second alleged victim came forward, according to Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley.

The first round of allegations stem from the late 1990’s. The second victim to come forward claims Whitt abused her a few years later. According to police, the second person to come forward “reported a pattern of conduct by Victor Whitt that was substantially similar to that reported by the first victim.”

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, the two victims are of different ages, did not attend school at the same time, and appear to have no connection. A new criminal complaint has been filed against Whitt that adds nine additional felony counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian, or person in a position of trust.

Whitt, who most recently was a an assistant principal at Valley High School, is free on $100,000 bond.

According to authorities, the investigation into Whitt began back in May.
