Fayette County man convicted of kidnapping, sexual assault

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Fayette County man was convicted Thursday on charges related to kidnapping and sexually assaulting a former girlfriend.

Jamie R. Criser, of Oak Hill, contacted the female on March 11, 2016, to request a ride. After she picked up Criser near Allman Street, he held her against her will until she had sex with him.

According to Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah, Criser “repeatedly threatened to harm or kill her if she refused.”

Criser’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11. He faces 20 to 50 years for kidnapping and 10 to 20 years for second-degree sexual assault.
