Gallery: Merica, Bowen lead Bridgeport over Wheeling Park

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Class AA No. 3 Bridgeport defeated AAA No. 6 Wheeling Park 35-28 on Friday night behind quarterback John Merica’s three touchdowns and 130 rushing yards.

Junior running back Jake Bowen overall led the way in yardage for Bridgeport (2-0), adding 136 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

Wheeling Park quarterback Cross Wilkinson threw for 201 yards in the loss.

It’s the second straight win for Bridgeport over the Patriots (1-1).
