Monongalia County man facing charges after firing gunshots in home with children inside

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Monongalia County man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he fired shots from a gun inside an Autumn Avenue home while two juveniles were inside early Thursday morning.

Brian Joseph Friggens, age unknown, is accused of forcing entry into the home by firing multiple gunshots through the living room sliding doors, firing another shot through the bedroom door and forcing himself inside, and engaging in a scuffle with a woman. The woman was able to get the firearm away from Friggens before Sheriff’s deputies arrived. The two children home at the time were ages 10 and 7. They ran upstairs at the time of the incident to make the call to 911.

Friggens was previously arrested for an August 30, 2017 domestic battery and domestic assault incident by State Police.

The new charges against Friggens include burglary, two counts of wanton endangerment involving a firearm, three counts of domestic assault, two counts of violation of a protective order, one count of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and one violation of bond related to a protective order served by State Police.
