Broken clavicle sends Kevin White back to IR

Bears receiver Kevin White (11) is tackled by Atlanta defensive end Takkarist McKinley (98) during Sunday’s season opener at Soldier Field.

Former West Virginia standout Kevin White is headed to the injured reserve list after sustaining a broken collarbone Sunday, according to an ESPN report.

The injury could be season-ending and extends a string of injuries for the receiver since he was drafted by Chicago Bears with the No. 7 overall pick in 2015.

White’s rookie season was nixed by a stress fracture in his shin, and he appeared in only four games during 2016 because of a fractured fibula. He has yet to catch an NFL touchdown and has just 21 career catches for 193 yards.

White made two catches for 6 yards Sunday before being hurt in the fourth quarter of Chicago’s 23-17 loss to the Falcons.

Relegation to IR means White must miss at least six games.

The 25-year-old White is signed through 2018 as part of $16.5 million contract that includes a team option for 2019.

His younger brothers Ka’Raun and Kyzir are senior starters on the current Mountaineers team.
