Baylous nominated for U.S. Marshal position

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A high profile member of the West Virginia State Police has been nominated by President Trump to serve as a U.S. Marshal.

Lt. Michael Baylous, currently the public information office for the State Police, was named in the first of five nominations by the White House Monday evening.  Baylous will serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of West Virginia.

U.S. Marshal Service duties include witness protection, judicial security, transporting prisoners, and apprehension of federal fugitives.

Baylous has been a member of the State Police since 1994 and previously served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1987 to 1995.  He holds a M.A. in Government and Public Administration from Regent University, a B.A. in Political Science from WVU, and an A.A. in Political Science from Marshall University.

The nomination will have to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
