Former Orrick CEO officially launches Congressional campaign

WHEELING, W.Va. — A challenger for the Democratic nomination for West Virginia’s First Congressional District has entered the race.

Former Orrick CEO Ralph Baxter announced Tuesday from Orrick’s Global Operations Center in Wheeling he will officially run for office. Baxter was the CEO at Orrick for nearly 25 years.

West Virginia’s First Congressional District has approximately 615,000 people. It includes the cities of Parkersburg, Morgantown, Wheeling, Clarksburg, and Fairmont. Republican David McKinley has represented this district since 2010.

In a release to the press, Baxter is citing his experience as a job creator, a “get-it-done attitude,” and experience as a problem solver.

“This is not just talk, I know what it takes to create good-paying jobs in West Virginia,” Baxter said. “What we’ve done here in Wheeling can be done throughout our district, from Clarksburg to Parkersburg.”

Baxter, his wife, and their four children live in Wheeling.
