Teens arrested in Boone County break-in

MADISON, W.Va. — Two Lincoln County teenagers are in custody and accused of an incident involving Boone County deputies.

Authorities caught up with Lucas Watson, 18, of Hamlin and a 17-year-old juvenile who was with him just before midnight in Lincoln County. The pair face charges of attempted malicious assault on an officer and attempted breaking and entering.

The pair, according to deputies, was in the process of breaking into the K&E Exxon gas station on U.S. 119 near Danville early Monday morning when deputies rolled up on the scene of the break-in in progress. One of the suspects took off into the woods on foot; the second jumped into a car. Deputies say that individual attempted to run them down as he fled, prompting gunfire from the officers. Nobody was injured, and the driver bolted from the vehicle on foot and into the woods.

Investigators captured the two just before midnight after a daylong manhunt.
