State Police have no suspects in stolen DOH truck

ELKINS, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police is continuing to investigate a truck stolen from Division of Highways property early Tuesday morning.

Cpl. S.P. Miller said at this time, State Police do not have any suspects.

“We don’t know if there’s one individual or a number of individuals,” he said. “We’re following leads as they come in, and I’ve been checking with local businesses about video surveillance.”

Officers of Elkins Police Department responded to a call for a vehicle fire behind NAPA Auto Parts, located on Harrison Avenue, in Elkins.

The truck, a Ford Super Duty F-250, appeared to be stolen from the DOH District 8 facility located just outside Elkins on U.S. 219.

“The gate was smashed open, the garage door was open, and the buildings look like they’d been gone through,” Miller said.

Miller said that DOH is doing inventory at the property to determine if anything else was stolen. The truck was a total loss.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Virginia State Police Elkins Detachment at (304) 637-0200.
