FARMINGTON, W.Va. — Two Disaster Recovery Centers will close this week following heavy flooding in late July in northern West Virginia.
The DRC at Oakhurst Church of Christ in Farmington closes at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 19. The DRC at Bishop Donahue High School in McMechen closes at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 20.
Beginning Monday, FEMA mitigation advisors will be in Fairmont until September 25 at the Ace Hardware in Middletown Mall to answer questions and offer home-improvement tips to reduce or prevent damage from future disasters.
The deadline for those applying for aid in Harrison, Marion, Marshall, and Wetzel counties is October 17.
A FEMA rep confirmed to WAJR-AM that wil be a hard deadline due to the nature of recent disasters in Florida and Texas. Those still applying can do so online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA mobile app, calling toll free at 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA), or visiting the last DRC in Wetzel County at Hundred High School. It operates Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It also is open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
