Body recovered in Kanawha River

Emergency crews were staged at the boat ramp near MacCorkle Ave. in South Charleston.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman’s body was recovered in the Kanawha River near Riverwalk Plaza in South Charleston Thursday afternoon, emergency dispatchers said.

The body was spotted a few minutes before noon. Emergency crews from South Charleston and Charleston were dispatched to the scene and made the recovery.

There was no initial word on possible cause of death or identity.
