PHILIPPI, W.Va. — A campus-wide lockdown at Alderson Broaddus University has been lifted, following an incident on social media.
“A social media post came to our attention that raised our concern, and we put our emergency protocol into action,” said Craig Butler, director of marketing and communication. “We locked down campus, and with the help of local law enforcement, the situation was diffused and we lifted our lockdown.”
Butler said the lockdown lasted only about 30 minutes.
“It was handled quickly and appropriately by us and local law enforcement,” he said.
The student who posted the suspicious social media post is currently being interviewed by local law enforcement.
