Huntington police identify woman’s remains found in Guyandotte River

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Remains found in the Guyandotte River last month have been identified, according to Huntington Police.

The remains of Carrie Jo Worrell Wood, 40, of Huntington, were discovered Sept. 23.

Detectives were able to identify the victims through fingerprints. Wood also had tattoos on her body.

Police previously said the cause of death was through an act of violence.

The remains were found near the Guyandotte Boat Ramp.

A missing persons report was not filed. Police believe it was an isolated incident.
