MILL CREEK, W.Va. — Senior standout Freddy Canary led Class A No. 3 South Harrison to a dominant, 57-0 win over Tygarts Valley on Thursday night, finishing with four touchdowns — all in the first quarter.
Canary took the game’s opening kickoff 85 yards for a score and followed that up with three carries on the night — all for touchdowns and a combined 90 yards.
Those rushing touchdowns came on runs of 46 yards, 40 yards and four yards.
Cam Barnette scored a 40 yard touchdown on the ground as well for the Hawks (6-0), while quarterback Landon McFadden added a 31 yard touchdown run in the win.
Up 40-0, South Harrison pulled its starters after the opening quarter.
Tygarts Valley dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
The win sets South Harrison up for a critical four-game stretch to end the regular season against ranked opponents Sherman, St. Marys, East Hardy and Class AA Liberty Harrison.
