Monroe County man charged with murder

MONROE COUNTY, W.Va. — A Monroe County man was charged with murder after a Sunday night shooting that State Police said started with a domestic dispute between that man and a woman.

Michael Joseph White, 59, of Union, was being held in the Southern Regional Jail on Monday on charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

Troopers were not immediately identifying the female victim who, investigators indicated, may have been shot in a struggle for the gun around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

The shooting happened at a home on Jones Mountain Road in Union.
