Case of unresponsive newborn at UHC under investigation

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Bridgeport Police Department is investigating a case involving an unresponsive newborn baby at United Hospital Center.

Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker said the baby was found unresponsive last Friday, at only two days old.

Both detectives and hospital staff are working with the case, and investigators are awaiting lab test results.

“There’s going to be a lot of that kind of information needed in the investigation,” Walker said.

Walker said the baby has been moved to Ruby Memorial Hospital for necessary treatment.

United Hospital Center released the following statement: “This incident is under investigation, and we have no further comment at this time.”
