FSU Board of Governors to select new president Thursday

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The search for a new president at Fairmont State University will come to an end Thursday when the Board of Governors meets and makes their selection.

The committee responsible for conducting the search for a new president selected five candidates for the position, left open by Maria Rose, who retired in June after more than 25 years at the institution. Each of the candidates made campus visits in the month of September.

The five candidates in consideration are Rocco Fucillo, the state and local community relations specialist at West Virginia University; Robert Mock, former president of Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina; Robert Glenn, president of Athens State University in Athens, Alabama; Richard Harvey, dean of the Fairmont State University School of Business; and Mirta Martin, former president of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.

Stephen Jones has been serving as interim president.

The Board of Governors meeting begins at 9 a.m. Thursday.
