Possible impaired driving blamed for deadly wreck in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. — Two men are said to be the victims of a deadly wreck in Putnam County.

The crash happened in the early morning hours Friday on Route 35 near the Buffalo Bridge, according to information from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.

Route 35 was closed for several hours.

Deputies indicated the two victims were in a silver Pontiac that crossed the center line and struck a tractor trailer going in the opposite direction possibly due to impaired driving.

Investigators were not able to immediately identify the victims.

The truck’s driver was not hurt.
