Charleston police are looking for these suspects in Tuesday’s shoplifting shooting.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police Chief Steve Cooper says a shoplifting on Charleston’s West Side Tuesday morning turned from a minor crime to a more serious crime when one of the suspects fired a shot.

The situation began at about 6:40 a.m. when a worker at the Kroger on Virginia Street West noticed a man and a woman were walking out of the store with items they didn’t pay for. The worker approached them in the parking lot and then the man pulled a gun out and fired a shot in the air, Cooper said.

“It’s gone from a shoplifting to a wanton endangerment now. So we’re looking for him on a felony.”

Cooper said he’s confident they will catch up with the pair–they are known in the local area.

“Someone is going to know them. Now this guy is going to prison for shoplifting at Kroger,” Cooper said.
