WorkForce West Virginia: September unemployment rate falls to 4.4 percent

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent in September, according to WorkForce West Virginia.

Unemployment rates decreased in every county, with Pendleton and Jefferson counties having rates at or below three percent, sitting at 3 percent and 2.8 percent respectively. McDowell and Mingo counties had rates about seven percent, with McDowell County’s rate being reported at 7.8 percent and Mingo County’s rate sitting at a rate of 8.2 percent.

According to the organization, the state’s rate in August was 5.4 percent.
