Off-duty Alderson officer injured in shooting

UPDATE: West Virginia State Police say they have arrested Frederick Tolliver, 66 of Alderson, in connection with the shooting.

Police say Tolliver shot at off-duty Officer Brackenrich and five others when they pulled into his driveway along Eagle Branch Road on an ATV to turn around.

ALDERSON, W.Va. — An police officer in the Town of Alderson was injured in a shooting late Friday night, according to the town’s Facebook page.

The post said Officer Mccaden Brackenrich was off-duty when he was “shot and wounded” at around 11:30 p.m. in Summers County. Two other people were wounded, the post said.

“Mr. Brackenrich has been airlifted to CAMC and no other details are available at this time,” according to the post.

State police are investigating.

“The thoughts and prayers of all the staff and citizens of the Town of Alderson go out to Mr. Brackenrich and his family,” the town said.
