Frontier, CWA extend contract again

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Frontier Communications and the Communication Workers of America have decided to extend the existing contract another four months while negotiations on a new deal continue.

The union announced Friday the current extension set to expire Saturday had been extended until March 3, 2018.

The contract under negotiation covers 1,600 CWA members in West Virginia and Ashburn, Va.

The union’s statement also said:

“The CWA elected bargaining team has been working to negotiate a fair agreement since early May. This is the second contract extension for this agreement; the bargaining team is continuing to work through complicated issues, including health care, employment security, keeping good jobs in local communities and other concerns.

“CWA members in West Virginia and Virginia are continuing to mobilize at worksites to make certain that Frontier knows that members are 100 percent committed to reaching a fair contract.”
