CHICAGO, Illinois — Kmart announced plans Thursday to close 45 stores nationwide including three in West Virginia.

The workers at the stores in Vienna, Beckley and Martinsburg were informed the stores would remain open during the holiday season and would likely close at the end of January.

Liquidation sales could begin as early as Nov. 9.

Kmart closed stores in Elkins, Weirton and South Parkersburg earlier this year.

The latest closures will leave just eight Kmarts in West Virginia.
