Big Sandy Superstore Arena worker dies following accident

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — An employee of SMG Huntington died after an accident last week at Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Tom McCormick, 59, was involved in an accident while setting up for the Kidz Bop concert on Nov. 2. His family told WSAZ-TV he had fallen five feet off a stage onto a concrete floor. He died Saturday.

“Our hearts are broken, and words alone cannot express our sorrow at hearing this news,” a SMG Huntington spokesperson said. “Speaking for the entire SMG-family, we wish to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Tom’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

McCormick was also a member of the International Association of Stage and Theatrical Employees.
