Man struck and killed along Kanawha road

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. — A Charleston man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he walked along a road in the Sissonville area of Kanawha County Wednesday morning, police said.

Gary Ray Jarrett, 68, was walking with his wife along the guardrail on Silas Kanawha Two Mile when he was hit by the driver of a Jeep. It happened at around 10:45 a.m. His wife was not struck.

Deputies performed field sobriety tests on the driver as a precaution but found no evidence of impairment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
