HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The search goes on in Wayne County for a missing Huntington Police Department K-9 member. “Rudy” a seven year old, male Belgian Malinois trained police dog. He escaped from a kennel Saturday night in the area of Prichard.
Lt. Levi Livingston was dog sitting the animal when he got away according to Bryan Chambers, spokesman for the city of Huntington.
“He was actually watching Rudy over the weekend for Rudy’s handler, Officer Joe Denning who was out of town,” Chambers said. “He escaped from the kennel at Lt. Livingston’s residence and he’s been missing since about midnight on Saturday.”
Chambers could not say what area of emphases Rudy was trained for in police duty, but suggested anybody spotting the dog call 9-1-1 or Lt. Livingston directly at 304-544-8442.
“We do have other k-9 officers in that area currently along with the dog’s handler trying to track the dog,” said Chambers. “There have been some possible sightings in the Prichard area of Wayne County, so officers believe the dog is still in the area.”
