One person dead in Turnpike crash

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — One person is reported dead after a fatal wreck Thursday on the West Virginia Turnpike.

Southbound traffic was at a standstill Thursday evening on the West Virginia Turnpike.

The crash happened near the 78 mile-marker on Interstate 77, in which two tractor-trailers were involved.

According to the West Virginia 511, one northbound lane was open as of 9:45 p.m.

Metro 911 dispatchers said one of the trucks was carrying food and the second vehicle was transporting boxes.
