Deadly crash on Hatfield-McCoy Trail

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — The state Department of Natural Resources said there was a deadly crash on the Hatfield-McCoy Trail in McDowell County Saturday evening.

It happened at around five o’clock on the Indian Ridge system near the McDowell-Mercer county line.

A Pennsylvania man who was operating a side-by-side ATV lost control of the vehicle sending it over a steep embankment. The driver was killed and a passenger was injured, the DNR said.

It appears the driver was trying to pass another ATV when the crash happened.
