HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Class AAA No. 1 Huntington stayed unbeaten on Saturday with a 44-14 opening round playoff win over No. 16 South Charleston.

Highlanders’ senior running back Jadon Hayes scored three touchdowns on the day — a 60 yard run, 44 yard run and 52 yard punt return for another score. Quarterback Luke Zban also threw three touchdown passes in the win for Huntington (11-0).

South Charleston briefly led 14-9 in the second quarter before the Highlanders took complete control and scored the game’s final 35 points.

Huntington moves on to host No. 9 Hurricane in the quarterfinals next week — the Highlanders defeated Hurricane 34-14 back on October 13.
