HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Cabell County couple will spend life in prison following a sentence reconsideration hearing Monday.
A jury found Mariya Jones and Aaron Miles guilty in September of second-degree murder and murder of a child by a parent, guardian and custodian in the death of 3-year-old Jayden Jones. They were sentenced to life without parole.
Jones and Miles were arrested in July 2016 after Jayden Jones’ body was found at a Huntington home on 7th Avenue.
The state medical examiner said the child was severely abused, and a doctor helping with the case said the boy was tortured.
