UPDATE: Woman confesses to shooting Lowell man found next to truck

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The State Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that William Comer Jr., 60 of Lowell, died of a gunshot wound to the head Saturday.

Judy Wooten, 32.

Judy Wooten, 32, was arrested Monday in connection to the crime. Police say Wooten confessed to shooting Comer in the head during questioning. A search warrant for Comer’s cell phone has revealed that Wooten was the last person he spoke to.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police Union Detachment are still investigating the crime.

UNION, W.Va. — A woman is behind bars in connection with a body discovered by deputies lying next to a pick-up truck on Saturday.

Judy Wooten, 32, faces a murder charge. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the body was discovered while deputies were searching the abandoned vehicle parked along Lily Dale Road.

The body was later identified as William Comer Jr., 60 of Lowell.

It has been sent to the State Medical Examiners Office in Charleston for further investigation.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office told MetroNews affiliate WJLS Monday afternoon no further information is available as the investigation continues.
