High school football gallery: Mingo Central 76, Robert C. Byrd 40

MATEWAN, W.Va. — Class AA No. 1 Mingo Central defeated No. 16 Robert C. Byrd 76-40 in the opening round of the playoffs.

Quarterback Jeremy Dillon totaled 466 yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the win for the Miners (11-0). He completed 13 of 19 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 218 yards and three more scores on the ground.

Drew Hatfield had eight catches for 116 yards, while running back Dawson Elia rushed for 89 yards and five touchdowns on 12 carries in the win as well.

Mingo Central this week will host No. 8 Liberty (Harrison) in the quarterfinals.
