Parkways Authority looking to start sponsorship program for Turnpike

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Parkways Authority announced Tuesday plans to launch a corporate sponsorship program for the West Virginia Turnpike to fund road improvement work and compensate for losses.

The 88-mile section goes from Charleston to the Route 460 Interchange at Milepost 9 near Princeton.

“Our goal is to publish a Request for Proposals (RFP) by the end of the year inviting national brands to submit proposals for sponsoring our marketable assets, either in total or segmented by type,” general manager Greg Barr said in a release.

More than 37 million transactions were made at the Turnpike’s 38 tollbooth lanes.
