Police investigate separate stabbings in Kanawha County

CHESAPEAKE, W.Va. — Two men were injured in separate stabbings early Wednesday morning in Kanawha County.

Chesapeake police said a man was stabbed in the stomach at a residence on 137th Street at about 1:30 a.m. They have a description of the suspect. No arrests have been made.

Kanawha County deputies took a man into custody in connection with a stabbing reported at just before 3:30 a.m. at a residence on Left Fork Road in the Hernshaw area.

According to deputies, two men were fighting and one was stabbed in the arm. The alleged stabber, Terry Toppings, 50, of Hernshaw, is charged with malicious wounding and possession of a controlled substance.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, deputies said.
