SNOWSHOE, W.Va. — More than 150 skiers and snowboarders officially kicked off ski season in West Virginia Friday when the rope dropped at Snowshoe Resort in Pocahontas County.
“This is the strongest opening day we’ve had in a few years in terms of the amount of terrain that is open” Snowshoe spokesperson Shawn Cassell said in a news release. “We’ve got 3 lifts running, 9 trails open, and over 30 acres of skiable terrain so far. The weather has been very cooperative for us, and it looks like that should continue into December, and allow us to expand our open terrain quickly ahead of the holiday season.”
Other ski areas in West Virginia are scheduled to open in the coming weeks.
