Tyson Bagent’s 372 yards, 4 TDs lead Martinsburg over Capital

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Class AAA defending state champion Martinsburg withstood a first half test from Capital on Saturday, but pulled away in the second half for a 49-28 win over the No. 6 Cougars.

Senior quarterback Tyson Bagent threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns on 18 of 21 passing in the win for Martinsburg (13-0).

Three of those touchdown passes went to Jarod Bowie, while running back Dewayne Grantham rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Mikey Jackson added another rushing touchdown as well for the Bulldogs.

The two teams were tied 14-14 at the half and Martinsburg didn’t hold its first lead until the third quarter. Capital ends the season with a 9-4 record.

Martinsburg’s win sets up a rematch of last year’s Class AAA title game with Spring Valley on Saturday, December 2 at noon from Wheeling Island Stadium. The Bulldogs won last year’s championship game 49-7.
