Preston County man wanted for kidnapping and attempted murder

KINGWOOD, W.Va. — A Preston County man is wanted on kidnapping and attempted murder charges, the Preston County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Virgil Lee Hall, a 44-year-old man who is last known to have lived on Fox Hollow Road in Bruceton Mills.

Hall has active warrants in Preston County for attempted murder, strangulation, malicious wounding, and kidnapping. He is also wanted by Pennsylvania State Police on counts of strangulation and unlawful restraint.

He is accused of abducting a Preston County woman on Nov. 18 and taking her across state lines into Wharton Township, Pennsylvania in Fayette County. Police believe he assaulted the woman in a nearby corn field. Afterward, he is accused of dragging the woman by her hair back into Preston County to his residence. Kidnapping with the intent to transport another person with intent to inflict bodily injury or terrorize the victim can carry a life sentence in West Virginia.

Hall is listed at 5’10”, 170 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Preston County Sheriff’s Office at (304) 329-1611 or the Uniontown Barracks of Pennsylvania State Police at (724) 439-7111.
