BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A Bluefield nurse faces sexual assault charges after he allegedly tried drugging a minor to commit the offense.
The Bluefield Police Department said Joseph Lyons, 40 of Bluefield, was arrested shortly after the incident when the victim’s mother called police.
She told authorities Lyons gave her sleeping medicine at a Bluefield residence and thought she was unconscious when he began sexually abusing her.
Lyons is being held at Southern Regional Jail on a charge of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person of trust. His bond has been set at $20,000, according to SRJ records.
If found guilty, he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
