UPDATE: Escaped inmate from Beckley facility captured in Charleston

UPDATE: The Beckley Correctional Center announced Sunday evening Gregory Allen White, 36, is back in custody after being captured in Charleston. No further details are available.

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Beckley Correctional Center Sunday morning.

According to officials, Gregory Allen White, 36, escaped after 9:45 a.m. He is serving a 8 to 15 year sentence for several crimes, including burglary, car theft, child neglect and child abuse.

White is described as 6 feet tall, and has several tattoos on his body, including on the top of his head, right side of his neck, a tiger on his upper left arm and a cross on his abdomen.

Anyone with information about White’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
