Highlight of Truck Edwards’ TD run for Bluefield goes national

WHEELING, W.Va. — One of the stories coming out of this past weekend’s Super Six included the social media and national reaction to Bluefield running back Truck Edwards and his hard-fought-for touchdown run in the first quarter of the Class AA championship.

The highlight, posted below, was picked up nationally by ESPN and MaxPreps, earning the No. 3 spot on Sportscenter’s Top 10.

Combined with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the highlight has over 2 million views.

“It was my last high school game and I had to leave it all on the field,” Edwards said of the play. “I was determined to get in that end-zone – I had to. I wasn’t going to let them stop me at all.”

Edwards finished the game with 81 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdowns in the win for the state champion Beavers.
