Bridgeport kicker, punter Koby Kiefer to play for Cornell

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Bridgeport senior kicker and punter Koby Kiefer announced he will play for Cornell at the next level, following a highly successful high school career.

“I’m blessed and honored that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Cornell University,” he said. “I want to give a huge thanks to my family, coaches, teachers and friends who have supported me throughout this process.”

Kiefer was named a second team all-state kicker and punter last week out of Class AA.

During his senior season, Kiefer averaged 42.5 yards on 27 punts with a long of 55. Seven of those 27 punts were pinned inside the 20 yard line. He went 53 of 57 on extra point attempts on the season, also making two field goals.
