Wellsburg nurse admits to drug distribution work

WHEELING, W.Va. — A Brooke County nurse pleaded guilty Monday to distributing drugs, including those used to treat opioid addiction.

Sharon Jackson, 46, of Wellsburg, admitted to conspiring with others to illegally distribute suboxone, subutex and buprenorphine. She admitted to committing the acts while working at an opioid addiction treatment, Advance Healthcare in Weirton, between 2007 and 2017.

Suboxone, subutex and buprenorphine are used in treating opioid addiction.

Jackson could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
