Arrests made in unrelated robbery, fugitive incidents

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Officers with Morgantown Police Department have made arrests in two unrelated cases.

A 36-year-old Monongalia County man is awaiting arraignment in relation to a Dec. 8 robbery on Don Knotts Boulevard in Morgantown. Christopher Jerome Martin II was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second degree robbery.

On Dec. 8, police responded to a report of a robbery at 1220 Don Knotts Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Martin fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and was reported to have been armed with a handgun.

As detectives were following up on leads related to the robbery on Tuesday, officers identified a possible vehicle used by the suspect and conducted a traffic stop. Search warrants were used on Martin’s vehicle and hotel room.

He is currently awaiting arraignment.

Police also arrested a 21-year-old man wanted for outstanding charges from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

Awan Johnson was found when Morgantown police officers were conducting security checks in the area of East Brockway Avenue and Marilla Park.

Johnson is currently in custody at the North Central Regional Jail as a fugitive pending extradition to Pennsylvania for failure to appear on drug violations.
